Frequently Asked Questions

Session Info

We just booked a family photo session with you, but I have no idea what to dress my family in for the session!  What should we wear?

After booking, I will be sending you a prep guide that explains what to wear and how to prepare for your photo session.  I will also work closely with you, if you would like advice on outfits (even if you need to text me from the store!).  I have more information, as well as a link to my Pinterest board with tons of visual references on my SESSION PREP GUIDE.

We have an outdoor photo session booked but I’m worried about bad weather.  Will the session be cancelled or can we reschedule?

The session will always be rescheduled due to inclement weather!  As long as you have paid your deposit to secure your session, we will reschedule the session in the event of rain, snow/sleet, or high wind/storms.  I will not reschedule sessions for overcast or cloudy days unless it is very dark/cloudy and there is rain or storms in the forecast.  Please do not stress if it’s not a sunny day for your session!  Overcast skies are actually perfect for portrait sessions because the clouds act as a diffuser and soften harsh shadows on people’s faces.

What's the best time of day to schedule a session?

I prefer to shoot outdoor sessions during "magic hour," which is the hour before the sun sets.  The reason for this is because the light is gorgeous and it allows me to have a consistent look to my photos that represent me as an artist.  If "magic hour" doesn't work for you, then choose any late afternoon time slot.  Its best to avoid a session around noon, or mid-afternoon.  The sun is highest, and very bright.  It creates harsh shadows, and we will have to find shaded locations.

Can I suggest a shooting location?

Of course! This only applies to my full portrait sessions.  I will also need to check if the location you suggest requires a permit.

Where is your studio location?

As of now, my studio is in my home, located in Nanuet, New York.  If you have booked an in-studio session, I will send my address in a follow-up email before your session.

I would like to book a Maternity session.  When is the best time to schedule one?

The best time to schedule a Maternity session, is between 28-35 weeks.

When should I schedule my Newborn session?

It’s actually best to schedule your newborn session when you are in or around your second trimester, or as soon as you are able to.  It may seem much too early to book a session, however, it actually ensures that you will have a future session.  It's best to have your Newborn session when the baby is under 3 weeks old.  This is the "sleepy phase", and provides opportunity for all of those cute sleepy poses.

What happens if I have my baby early?

Do not stress about your photo session if your baby decides to make an early appearance!  You will just contact me and let me know that you had the baby early and we will discuss if there was a NICU stay or any other concerns, and from this information determine the new session date.

Image delivery & Pricing

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

No, I do not.  I take hundreds of shots during your session, hoping to catch those special and beautiful moments.  Many shots are duplicates, some are not perfectly in focus, or have bad facial expressions. I pick out the very best images and spend time editing each one.  The editing process is very time consuming, and there is no way I could provide you with every image during your shoot and maintain the quality that I like to put out.

How many images will we get in our gallery?

Well this depends on many things, and I will not guarantee an amount.  But typically a 1 hour shoot will have about 30 images in the viewing gallery.

How long does it take to get my photo gallery?

Usually less than 2 weeks.  However in busier seasons (fall & Christmas), it can take up to 3 weeks, so if you are booking in that time, its best to do so as soon as possible.

My gallery has watermarked images.  Will my final images have watermarks?

No, they will not have watermarks on them after you purchase a digital package and download them.

How much do your Digital/ Print packages cost?

Please visit the Investment page on my website for more information, and contact me for my price menu.

Where do you recommend I print my photos?

First, I believe digitals will eventually get lost "in the cloud" or on computer's hard drive, will be forgotten about and not nearly as treasured as a print photograph you can see hanging everyday in your home.  It's very important to print your photos!! Not only will they make you smile every time you look at them, but they will get passed down through generations.  I HIGHLY recommend having your photos printed through ME!  I use a high-quality professional lab, who I've carefully synced my color space with.  This guarantees that the images you see in your gallery, are what you get in print.

Nothing bothers me more than seeing a client take their amazing high-quality photos that they spent good money on, and have them printed at low-cost, low-quality convenience stores.  What's the point of paying for excellent photos, and having sub-par prints??  I want my images and reputation to be represented accurately.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
